I never realized I'd get to handle a Microsoft Zune this, uh, soon.
I'm at Taal Vista Lodge in Tagaytay City for the Microsoft Vista Boot Camp for Media, where we get to learn about it and the new Office, and try them out hands-on. It being a Microsoft event, of course there was a Zune, which I immediately grabbed and prodded and poked at with gloves and a long stick. Impressions later. Erm. Pics first:
Unlikely friends. A Microsoft Zune in front of my Macintosh Powerbook.
What the top looks like. Bare and neat. Just a switch and the earphone port.
Watching Trek. Cool.
My new shuffle on top of the Zune for reference. Shuffie was none too pleased.
Oooh, I feel like a fish out of water here, wearing a shuffle and lugging a Powerbook in a Microsoft Vista conference. I'm getting evil-eye looks. I feel like I'm about to be bopped on the head by any time now with a heavy Vista-capable notebook, but I'm sure it's just my imagination. As for the Zune, I'm surprisingly ...impressed. A bit heavy and large, but the screen is great, and the "scroll wheel" isn't too shabby.
Wait, wait. No real comments yet, folks. Reserving judgment for later, after I spend more time with the chunky thing. Full review zoon. I mean, soon. (Damn, I keep doing that.) Plus comments on Vista and Office.
I'm just glad I got internet here, even if it is intermittent.
Hmmm... trips to Malaysia, Singapore, Tagaytay... how come I never got to do all of that?

But seriously, I've gone through a Microsoft event recently (a few days ago) and I wasn't even remotely impressed with MS Office 2007 -- its the same old thing and the only thing they changed is the menu bar(they took them off!).
As for Zune and VISTA? Let me just say that I'm glad to be using the OS that the people at M$ copied a lot of VISTA's features from, and that I'm using a player that is being copied by the Zune.
